Writing clean is important to all technical communicators, whether your work will be translated or not. You will not want to miss our November 17 meeting as Erica Goldberg and Adriano Romano offer tips and tricks on writing clean, clear, translatable documents.

As technical writers, your target audience can no longer be confined to a well-defined and homogeneous community of readers. As the economy becomes increasingly global, the same text must often be shared and understood by various communities around the world. Therefore, it is key for technical writers to author a text that can be easily adapted to diverse audiences. One way to accomplish this is to create master documents that can be easily understood and localized into several languages rather than writing different versions of the same document for each separate target audience.

Creating simple master documents will also help introduce new products to your target markets faster and allow the product or service to be launched and promoted simultaneously in different regions. Since technology is developing and changing quicker than ever, this is a goal that many companies seek to accomplish when marketing their products and services.

During this presentation, we will provide insight on how we view the technical writing process as translation project managers, and share some tips which will help shed light on some of the most relevant considerations. Then, we will make suggestions on how to most efficiently facilitate the localization of your materials. Following our presentation, we will have a Q&A session so you can ask us any questions that you may have about the topics discussed.
