The 2018 STC Chicago Technical Communications Competition was a success once again. We saw some really great examples of technical communication and we are proud to announce the winners.
Each entry submitted was judged on its own merits against a list of technical criteria that defines good technical communication. Not all entries win an award. Of the winning entries, there are four levels of awards, and there are no limits to the number of entries that can win each award level, with the exception of Best in Show:
- Merit: Consistently meets high standards in most areas of evaluation. Judges consider a Merit entry to be an item that displays an above average execution of technical communication principles.
- Excellence: Consistently meets high standards in all areas of evaluation. Judges consider an Excellence entry to be an item that makes one say, “Wow,” because it is so excellent in its execution of technical communication principles or because it provides something new and unique.
- Distinguished: Clearly presents superior standards in all areas of evaluation. Judges consider a Distinguished entry something that can be used in a classroom as an example of exemplary technical communication.
- Best in Show: Selected from amongst the Distinguished winners, this represents the ideal in its category.
