The deadline for submitting your entries to this year’s competition is Friday, October 19, 2012, and it’s coming up fast!
Have you or someone you work with completed an online help file in the last 24 months? How about a user guide, job aid, reference document, brochure, poster, article or training material? The STC Chicago Technical Communication Competition is your opportunity to have a team of your peers review and evaluate your work. The form that each judge completes can provide valuable insight into how others see your work.
The cost is $50 for each entry. You can submit as many entries as you’d like. Four copies of the entries and submission forms must be post-marked by Friday, October 19, 2012. No entries received after that date can be included in the judging.
Maybe you’d be interested in being a judge for this year’s competition. We’re having an hour-long Judges Orientation on November 3 to review the judges’ responsibilities, the judging team process, and to distribute each team’s entries to judge. This is an opportunity to see what other technical writers are doing and to use your editing and commenting skills to evaluate each entry assigned to your team. Evaluations need to be completed and all materials returned at our Consensus Judging on January 5, 2013. If you’re interested, complete the judges sign-up form. Judging registration ends on October 26, 2012.
We celebrate the culmination of the 2012 Technical Communication Competition at our Annual Honors and Recognition Banquet in March 2013. Awards are presented and entries are returned on this evening. If your entry receives an Excellence or Distinguished award at our local level, your entry is eligible for the Society competition. Winners at the Society level are displayed at the STC Summit in May 2013.
Don’t miss your chance to enter one or more entries for this year’s competition.
